Fruit is mostly water. Pasta is mostly starch. Starch = carbs = glycemic load.<br /><br />Adding a teaspoon or two of peanut/almond butter to a smoothie will reduce its glycemic index even further by adding protein, but adds a few calories - usually not enough to break the bank.
